Barnaby Rudge

I've been a bit lax with my posting lately because this month has been all about writing (I'm foolishly attempting NaNoWriMo), so not much art has been made. But I can offer you a wee monkey I drew before the crazy writing started. Allow me to introduce...BARNABY RUDGE*!

*Yes, I know that's a name from Dickens. I didn't do it on purpose though - the moniker was just in my head, so I used it and found out later darn Charles had used it first. Curse him!

Thaddeus - some sketches

Thaddeus is the main character of a graphic novel/comic I'm currently
in the process of creating. At the rate I'm working on it right now,
it should be done by 2068.

Thaddeus' main goal in life is to make his way to the ocean and find an
octopus to befriend. His dreams are full of tentacles.

Finally under the sea, all Thad finds are some jellyfish - wherever could the octopi be?

Many More Bears

Despite his colourful pants, Cedric was sad.

Renoir found himself amused by the simplest things.

Bookish to a fault, Saul spent his days in the stacks.

Fiona wished for just one more lovely coral necklace.

Fanny wished only for some colour.

Frida & Friends

One of my heroes - not the best representation of her though. Must try again sometime.

A phrenology head (drawn for something I was designing for my workplace, hence the BPC in the brains).

Moray eel.

Another mandrill.

Puffer fish!

Pierre disdains his common English cousin.

Bearacters

He's never seen without his headphones.

His skinny jeans cut off the circulation to his tear ducts (or else he'd be sobbing all the time).

Do the robot.

And then the heavens opened.

He demands a finished background!

Cephalopod Centre

Stage One.

Stage Two.

Stage Three - CEPHALOPODNESS ACHIEVED.

Sketchy

Some assorted sketches...

He says "ARGH."

It's true - they're kind of freaky.

Shrew train, much furrier than a soul train.

The hare is a particularly alert creature.

Anteater portrait.

Captain Sloth, ready to set out on his rickety boat.

Birds the First

A courtly courting pair of Baroque kingfishers.

Make Timmy stop crying!

Toucan sur branche.

The Kakapo, all the way from New Zealand.

Based on a Barbet, but this one sports pantaloons.

Crested Auklets - a motley bunch!

A sailor, a snob and a slummer.

A sailor:

Meet Mr. Johnson Eleanor Swick, sailor. Whatever you do, don't ask him about his middle name.

A snob:

Sir Fowler really is insufferable, but his generosity when it comes to Cuban cigars and vintage port ensures him an invitation to every party.

And a slummer:

A secret billionaire, Mr. Beanstein inherited a fortune at the age of 12 after his parents' tragic death in a log flume accident.
